Welcome to Risak PotteryWe are Ed and Julie Risak, a husband and wife team working together to produce unique handmade raku and low temperature fired pottery. For the construction of the pieces we use a combination of wheel thrown and handbuilt techniques. Our daughter Thea is continuing on the craftsperson's path and specializes in one of a kind hand built ceramic masks. She is currently enrolled at Northern Michigan University as a ceramics major. We both obtained our bachelor of fine arts and master's degrees from Northern Michigan University. Ed also studied at Eastern Michigan University and Oakland Community College (with Robert Pipenberg). Julie also studied at Northwestern Michigan College and attended Interlochen Academy of the Arts.
